AUSCAM

We are excited to announce our first official partnership with AusCam.

What’s Auscam all about?

AusCam Freedom Project provides early intervention educational programs for vulnerable girls in Cambodia, surrounding them with the support they need to stay in school and have the opportunity, choices and freedom to live healthy, empowered and sustainable lives. When young girls living in poverty drop out of school, they are susceptible to trafficking and the sex trade. Auscam works with the local schools in Cambodia to improve educational outcomes and provide not only educational resources, but also life skills and supportive community. This in turns helps to break the poverty cycle by equipping young girls to grow into women who provide new opportunities for their families. Please take the time to watch the below clip titled Sophea's Dream which highlights the important work Auscam is doing in Cambodia.

AUSCAM FREEDOM PROJECT - EMPOWERING AT-RISK GIRLS THROUGH EDUCATION

ConnectEd Cambodia is excited to be partnering with AusCam Freedom Project as one of our very first initiatives. Over the course of the months and years to come, we’re hoping to be able to work with this project in promoting their amazing work, securing resources, and helping them with their IT needs.

Project Complete

We have been incredibly proud to successfully raise the operating costs for AusCam's Freedom Education Scholarship Program for the April - June quarter. Our target was $5,000, and with your help we didn't just meet our funding target for AusCam - we beat it! That means the operating costs have been fully covered. Thanks to everyone who donated or otherwise helped along the way. It couldn't have happened without you.

But it doesn't end here!

We're going to continue to partner with AusCam, and so can you. ConnectEd Cambodia exists to help make connections, and maybe this campaign has introduced you for the first time to the great work that AuscCam does with at risk girls in Phnom Penh. If it resonated with you, follow AusCam on Facebook, subscribe to their mailing list, and keep an eye out for other ways you can continue to support them.

Below you will find two ways you can donate to worthwhile projects either through ConnectEd Cambodia or AusCam. Follow us on Facebook for updates on our lastest news and projects.

OPTION 2

If you would like to receive a tax deduction for your donation, please go to Auscam’s donation page and scroll down to FREEDOM EDUCATION SCHOLARSHIP PROGRAM.

Auscam Freedom Project is an Australian Registered Charity, and donations directly to Auscam are tax deductible. To make sure you receive your tax receipt at the end of the year, please then email us at admin@connectedcambodia.org.au with your name, address and the amount donated. We’ll then make sure this is tied back to Auscam’s records and follow up to ensure you receive your receipt.

PLEASE NOTE: To keep operating costs down, Auscam only issues tax receipts for donations at the end of the financial year.

The Freedom Education Scholarship Program

One of the ways Auscam helps young girls is through their Freedom Education Scholarship program. Partnering with local schools, at risk girls in impoverished communities are identified and provided with a scholarship to encourage them to stay in school. This includes providing them with a uniform, bag, books and a bicycle. They’re also provided with support programs and life skills workshops. For the 2016-17 financial year, 125 girls are enrolled in the scholarship program.

This is a great program provided by a fantastic, but desperately underfunded organisation.

Finding sponsors for individual children is often easier for organisations like Auscam than the decidedly less glamorous task of raising operating costs. But both are essential to creating successful outcomes. We want to take the burden of having to raise one quarter’s operating costs away from Auscam so that they can focus on what they do best.
